Medical Disclaimer
The blunt version of what a lawyer would say more slowly.
We are not medical professionals
Evolve first does not provide medical advice. Nothing on this site or in any challenge, plan, or email is medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and none of it is a substitute for the judgment of a qualified professional who has actually examined you.
Everything we publish is general information written for a general audience. It is not tailored to you, your history, your injuries, your medications, or your capacity, because we do not know any of those things and never will.
Talk to a doctor first
Get medical clearance before starting any challenge, and especially before starting one if you:
- Are over 40, or have been inactive for more than a few months.
- Are pregnant, postpartum, or trying to become pregnant.
- Have or have ever had heart disease, high blood pressure, chest pain, an irregular heartbeat, or a family history of sudden cardiac death.
- Have asthma or any lung condition, diabetes or any metabolic condition, or a kidney condition.
- Have a current or recent injury, surgery, joint problem, or chronic pain.
- Have or have had an eating disorder, disordered eating, or a compulsive relationship with exercise.
- Have any psychiatric condition, or take any medication at all.
If a doctor tells you not to do something in a challenge, the doctor is right and we are wrong.
Stop signs
Stop immediately and get medical help for: chest pain, pressure, or tightness; pain in the arm, neck, or jaw; shortness of breath out of proportion to the effort; dizziness, light-headedness, or fainting; an irregular or racing heartbeat at rest; severe or unusual muscle pain, swelling, or weakness; dark, red, or cola-coloured urine; confusion; vision changes; or any symptom that frightens you.
Do not wait to finish the day. The day does not matter. Read the Safety Rules for more.
Emergencies
In an emergency, call your local emergency number. Nobody at Evolve First is watching your account, and marking or not marking a day does not alert anyone that something is wrong.
